Labour Day 2015

This year Labour Day on Friday and Wesak Day which fall on Sunday, both holidays connecting weekends gave Malaysians a 4-day long anticipated break starting 30th April Thursday night, one extra day as Wesak replacement holiday resulting in Monday off as well.

May 1 was also my mother's birthday, our brothers have long planned her birthday celebration at night, but morning and evening were free time for everyone of us. I woke up in the morning, thinking to bring my gf for a pleasant vacation to some islands or beaches she longed for some times.

Upon fetching her, she changed her mind that she wanted to go back to her hometown, Teluk Intan and since I promised to send her home for this holiday break, we decided to depart one day earlier not as planned. First, we went to the hawker centre near SS2 wet market for breakfast.

I ordered a curry mee that I have been craving when I was still at Kerteh while she ordered her favourite sliced-chicken noodles.

We started the journey at about 11 am through Petaling Jaya to Jejantas Sungai Buloh.

Never thought it was the start of a terrible and horrible traffic congestion experience.

We have stuck in the traffic jam for about 2.5 hours until Rawang rest station. Traveling 2.5 hours on normal days we could have reached Teluk Intan and probably enjoying our lunch at Teluk Intan already.

The torrid noonday sun was unbearable and my legs were exhausted driving the manual Saga, therefore we stopped at Rawang rest station where my gf insisted that she wanted to treat me Starbucks.

Looked at her cute face when her Starbucks dream come true.

After the lovely rest, we stuck in the congestion for another 5.5 hours. Cars barely moved! Of course we were blessed to have each other in the car to play and cuddle against, else the jam will drive me crazy. Seriously. First time in my life I encountered such traffic congestion on highway.

Reaching Teluk Intan, the first thing I asked my gf to do is to bring me to buy the famous Teluk Intan Chee Cheong Fan. It was already 6.50 pm. Not only we waited on highways, but need to wait and queue for the Cheong Fan as well. Oh man.

Costs me RM23 for 5 packs of it because I wanted to bring home for my mother's birthday celebration.

I was afraid that I will be late back home because her father invited me for dinner! Thinking not to disappoint her and her families, I joined them. She even wanted me to stay overnight, but for that I have to reject, can't afford to miss the important day to celebrate my mother's birthday.

It was 8.15 pm when I finally departed from Teluk Intan back to Kuala Lumpur. The roads were dark, dangerous and full of potholes. I switched my radio to almost the maximum volume to keep me awake and I never stop praying to reach safely with the little Orange Saga I put my trust on. On my way back, the lane opposite me to Slim River, Sungkai and Ipoh direction were still stuck with cars as far as 10 km.

How pity. The passengers and drivers must be famished and exhausted like me.

Thank GOD that I made it at 10.30 pm to home sweet home. Everybody was waiting for me. Just about to start the celebration. We sang the birthday song and even asked my younger brother who was currently at Singapore to sing the birthday song through calls! It was a warm celebration where the most important people in my life were together with me at that moments.
