One Day Trip to Kuala Terengganu

Never thought decision to really visit Kuala Terengganu for the 1st time can be made in sleeping mode or to be exact, half-awake mode.

That morning call from Sooth Tyng asking whether wanting to bump in Eric's car to Kuala Terengganu changed my plan for my Saturday in Kerteh.

They wanted to visit Big Bad Wolf and I did not mind too going the book fair with them, but speaking of the ultimate purpose of following them, it was the Kuala Terengganu Chinatown that I have never been to despite 2 years working in the East Coast.

We arrived at UniSZA on 12.30 pm. This is an university I never heard of, called Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, named after the current Sultan Terengganu. This campus we were in is located at Gong Badak.

Packed with people, of course.

Everyone of us separated very quickly, went looking for own books of interest. And me? Indulged in food and travel section.

First book I found in food section was "The Easy Way, Pasta" because I love pasta so much especially Aglio Olio. So I took it with me and stand on side to read it.

This book costs RM20.00
Linguine with Prawns and Scallops
Garlic Prawns with Angel Hair Pasta

The book was good, but there were just few pages that I was interested on, therefore I decided not to buy it and proceed to check out some travel books. There were many books about traveling in Bangkok, San Francisco, Paris, Singapore etc but what caught my attention was this.

China, A Visual Adventure

I expected this book to have some information about Macau and Hong Kong because I will be traveling to those places this coming December!

However, not much information about Macau but pretty much introduction and high pixel pictures for Hong Kong!

Typhoons in Hong Kong
Picturesque Coast in the South of Hong Kong
The island of Lantau
Kowloon
The aerial view of whole Hong Kong island
Man Mo Temple
Outstanding view of the skyline
Hong Kong's waterfront
Another view of Kowloon's busy street

After staying for about one and a half hours, we left for lunch. Or tea break, I did not know because the time was around 2.30 pm already. Deena and Eric wanted to eat Sushi at Pertama Sushi House while me and Sooth Tyng wished to visit the Chinatown. Pertama Sushi House and Chinatown were within stone's throw away from each other, so he dropped us first before we split。

Along the journey to Chinatown, I was famished to enjoy the view under the torrid noonday sun.

Stopped by a Chinese shop, we settled our much-awaited Chinatown lunch. Was too hungry to order both.

Wantan Mee
Fried Rice

Finished with lunch, we took time to walk around Chinatown before Eric came getting us again.

Terengganu local specialty - Fish crackers
Turtle Alley

At first sight, I though that was a real turtle!

We visited a temple.

Not long after, Eric brought us to Arena Sports & Equipments in Kuala Terengganu. It is like the Al-Ikhsan in Kuala Terengganu. Spotted some beautiful football boots.

Then we headed to Batu Buruk! On the way, saw this city bus full of simple elegance. Why Kuala Lumpur can't have this?

Overall I felt Kuala Terengganu was a very organized and peaceful city, in some aspects it was as good as Kuala Lumpur, like the architecture and buildings, and certainly it was a cleaner city compared to Kuala Lumpur.

Batu Buruk! Horse-drawn carriages, they are like the one in Cinderella. Oh, I love seeing horses.

Kites too.

What a lovely windy day to fly kites.

Couple spotted dating

What a day by the beach.

Avengers Model
Frozen Model
Disney's Model
Eagle Model
Spiderman Model

I would buy one if I know how to fly it.

More carriages waiting for customers to board.

Eric and deena were enjoying two of the world.

All hail, pirate ship to the sky.

While waiting for Eric and Deena to finish their business, me and Sooth Tyng decided to go get some root bears from A & W.

Refreshing enough!

When leaving, Eric drove us around Batu Buruk and I saw this floating mosque like the one in UTP.

Simply beautiful.

I could not describe but looking at the mosque it gave me a peace of mind.

We finally able to be at CB Wee Dungun for dinner, the place TripAdvisor said it has the best Chinese seafood in Terengganu.

Our food: Fried cauliflower, steamfish, fried shrimps and egg.

Look at them, they were happy for the food like the rest.

What a day and food to end this road trip!
